Choosing the Right High-Impact Torque Tools

Choosing the Right High-Impact Torque Tools - Tractor Guide

When removing rusted wheel bolts from a 15-ton tractor, standard air tools won't cut it. Learn why a 1-inch drive High-Impact Torque (HIT) wrench is a necessity in every farm shop.

Wheel weights on dual-tire setups can weigh over 1,500 pounds each, secured by massive Grade 8 bolts that have been subjected to years of mud, rain, and corrosive fertilizers. A standard 1/2-inch impact gun will simply stall out against these fasteners. A pneumatic 1-inch HIT wrench operates at 120 PSI and delivers upwards of 2,000 foot-pounds of reverse breakaway torque. Operating these massive tools requires specific high-flow air fittings (at least 1/2-inch internal diameter) and strict safety protocols to prevent wrist injuries or flying metal sockets.
