Upgrading Axles for Extra Payload Capacity

Upgrading Axles for Extra Payload Capacity - Tractor Guide

Need to carry heavier implements? Upgrading the rear planetary gears and adding extra hydraulic lift cylinders can significantly increase your tractor's maximum payload capacity.

Adding a third hydraulic assist cylinder to the 3-point hitch is a common upgrade for lifting massive air seeders. However, operators must remember that lifting the weight is only half the battle; the rear axle housing and bearings must be able to support that dynamic load as the tractor bounces over ruts. Heavy-duty axle gussets and cast-iron wheel hubs are mandatory when pushing equipment beyond its original factory weight classifications.
